Topic:   Remo Tx wait for CNC start cmd

By: JessePosted on: Sep 1 2015 at 06:46:15 PM
When using Remo mode, some operators take longer than others to get the machine ready to receive after sending the 'runner' to request a file. I can set the Tx delay in RemoDNC to be very long to accommodate this, but it seems like it would be better if RemoDNC could respect the same 'Wait for CNC Start cmd' option it has when manually sending a file. In other words, when RemoDNC receives a runner, it should open the requested file and enter the 'waiting for CNC' holding pattern just like it does when I manually send a program. File transfer would start as soon as the operator hits the 'read' button. Is this possible?

Hello Jesse. It should work exactly as you've described.

If it's not working like that then I think we need to look at it and make it work.

I can't say how quickly we can get this fixed so, in the meantime, if you could carry on with that tx delay.

It's not working like that. It would be great if this could be fixed. Is there any way you could notify me when you're able to get to it? The long tx delay works for the most part, but I have 2 machines with Mitsubishi M70 controls that are causing me problems. If the operator ever takes too long and misses the tx delay, the COM port seems to hang up and I usually have to restart RemoDNC and power cycle the serial->wifi box connected to the machine to get things working again. The 'wait for CNC start cmd' option would make this a little bit more foolproof.

Hello Jesse. Thanks for emailing us. We'll remain in touch off the forum but just wanted to post here in case anyone else is following this thread.

It is strange but I can confirm that the 'Wait for CNC' option is ignored/disabled if Remo Runner is used at the CNC to call up a program.

At the moment I can't think of any reason why that should be disabled.

I'll spend a few hours running some tests and hopefully we'll have an update soon.

This was a problem that mainly affected remote ethernet/rs232 ports.

Has now been fixed in version 5.0.58.9
