Topic:   Can't feed machine controller fast enough

By: Phase2Posted on: May 3 2011 at 06:55:20 PM
We have the software setup runinng 2 machines. On the faster machine we have, the software does not seem to send the data fast enough. We have th baud rate set at 115200. And we have set the Com port at the same number and have even tried going higher. Any ides on how to get it to send the data faster to the tool?

Just a bit more info. It is running through a USB to serial adapter and the cable is about 30 feet long. It is also running on Windows 7 Ultimate. The machine worked fine on an older XP machine with a different DNC program and the exact same USB Serial cable setup.

Near the top of the program window is a yellow (?) question Mark button. Click that and it displays a version number.

What version do you have? 4.7a or newer?

In easyDnc setup window is an option "BlockDelay". Make sure that is set to a low number or even zero, fast or none ( no delay).

If it is still too slow can you try the update from www.easydnc.com that will be version 4.7h. In that version set the block delay to zero and disable smart pace.

4.7a does not have a smart pace option. That's only in 4.7h.

I'd suggest trying 4.7a without any block delay and then, if that doesn't help, upgrade to 4.7h and try that.

Sorry, I also mean to ask what makes you so sure that it's speed related.

Just watching the program feed it scrolls rather slowly compared to the previous programs we used. Also, the mill catches up to the upload and actually stops waiting for it to feed more. Before, the program fed faster than the machine could move.

4.7h make any difference.?

I'll take a closer look at the software to see if there's any speed problem at 115200bps

If you've upgraded to 4.7h then go back to 4.7a

If you don't have that version you can download it from www.dncxp.com

in easyDnc 4.7a setup you see the BlockDelay option. You need to disable that completely. The BlockDelay is selected via a dropdown list. The smallest number you see in that list is 5ms but at the other end of that list you see the option "Fast". Select that 'Fast' option to disable block delay.

Also set BlockSize to "Fast".
Also set BlockEnd to "Fast".
