we have the black box cos-16 (code operated switch) with easy dnc 4.7.
we can send files to machine. we can not receive files from machine to computer. we have replaced the cable from computer to black box but no luck. the problem just started.
easy dnc will act like its ready to receive with nothing coming thru. no alarm on machine.
any guesses on what the issue is.

You have a 16 port box? Sounds like you have multiple CNC machines and that NONE of the machines can now send to the computer?
I'm sorry. I've never worked with black box cos devices so can't say.
Try the USB in a different USB port?
Sorry. I'm clutching at straws here. You said it was working and now it's not.
I suppose you could reinstall the software but I fear that won't make any difference. Something around the hardware , usb port etc, has changed.

yes 16 port box. and correct cant send back to pc. we are using a RS-232 null modem cable 25pin to 9 pin to connect to pc from black box. thinking of trying a RS-232 9 pin to USB.
it really is weird, all programs still send from pc to machine just not other way.

It's a 16port box. So 16 RS232 ports going out to the CNC machines.
and on the this side of the box the connection from the PC to the box is also an (one) RS232 port. So, in the PC there's ONE rs232 port connected to the box.
I can't imagine how that works. Must be some weird device driver in the PC that offers 16 VIRTUAL rs232 ports all mapped to one single com port in the PC.
Weird.
If the box has a USB PC-to-Box then I'd use that.
