Brought a pcmcia card for my laptop as i had no rs232 socket.
Should i be configuring the port settings in my laptops device manager?
I can understand the need for the machine tool and the software to be configured the same just not sure of the settings for the pcmcia card.
have tried different settings but still no luck.

The fact it's a PCMCIA card is not relevant. If it appears within windows as a ComPort then that's the important thing.

Only configuration that you need to do in device manager is to disable FIFO. That's in the ComPort advanced settings. There's sliders and a checkbox. Slide down to zero and disable by unchecking the box.

All other configuration is done is the DNC software.

You said "No Luck". Could you be more precise? What happens when you try?
