New PCs (or Laptops) no longer come with serial ports. Can successful drip deeding be carried out using via USB-Serial Adapter with the recommended cable configuration for FANUC CNC?

Yes. But baud rate not too high. Flow control xOn/xOff.
Go into windows device manager. Ports Com&LPT. Select the Com port. Go to "Advanced'. Slide FIFOs down to zero and disable. Some USB adapters have their own display in that FIFO window for managing fifo buffers while others just ignore whatever you set but go in there and disable fifo anyway.
Look in the easydnc setup window and see the 'Block Delay'. Increase that to a bigger number.
