Topic: Dropping Information when sent
|
By: Gerald | Posted on: Dec 23 2009 at 01:50:51 PM | Hello,
We have just installed the trial version to our old CNC that was using an old system. We have it hooked to a BTR on a Fanuc control. We have the mahcine communicating which was a relief but what we are now finding is when we either drip feed or download the entire file into memory, some data is being dropped such as one number ina line for instance part of a dimension for an I or J loaction or drop part of for example 7.457 it may drop the 7 and only send through the .457. Nothing seems to be scrambled and it is not consistant. If we send the same program through again, it sill drop somehting at a dofferent location.

Also check that all the solder joint are good - a poor contact could also cause it. During a file transfer shake the cable near the connectors - if there's a loose solder joint then it'll usually lose even more data indicating that you have bad connectors, solder joints etc.

We did slow the baud from 9600 to 2400 and changed the delay to 4ms and so far we haven't lost any more data. We are ocnducting a few more tests to verify. Is it possible these changes would make any difference or have we just been lucky so far?
