I have used another program since 2005 and all has been well. Moved my machine across the building and boom nothing transfers from the computer. Original program is no longer supported and my license key is outdated. I uploaded the newer version and get...........
I get a parity error on line "n" message when I hit "load program"
So I found this program and I like it alot better. Same problem however with the file transfer.
I am going to change the cable out to see if it is the transfer issue since it is also that old.
Any other ideas????

If you're sure that nothing in the CNC parameters has changed then I guess that could well suggest something outside of the CNC like the cable.
Does it transfer the whole file before showing that error? Or does the transfer stop and fail completely on that error.
What line number is "n"
Does the CNC have an option for block or line parity? Tv check etc? If so then disable it.

Thanks for the input.
I went and double checked the parameters in the manual for receiving information from a computer and acknowledged they were correct.
As soon as I hit load program the message pulls up. there is not an "n" in the program. Manual says the CNC post the line number before the problem.
This is an old machine and does not have any of those options.
I think the cable is the problem. In looking at the old cable versus the requirements now there are some loop backs on the 9 pin that are not required now.
I think that may have been the problem.
I am going with the follwing from the 9 pin to 25 pin. 3-2, 2-3, 5-7. No loops on the 9 pin. On the CNC side I am looping the 6-8-20 and the 4-5.
This omits two loops off of the nine pin side that I think are no longer needed with the upgraded software.
I am pretty sure this is a DTE system only but rather than take a chance I crossed the 3-2, 2-3 rather than the 3-3, 2-2 since the cross can work for both hardware and software when the loops are put on the 25 pin.

The type of cable that you need will not have changed just because you moved the machine so looking inside the old cable should tell you what is required
Although loop in the computer end of the cable are not important and in any case can not cause the problem you described.
