Topic: External Serial Port Breakout box

We're getting ready to upgrade our program distribution server. (We're a registered customer). A couple of questions:
1) can we drip feed multiple machines using Windows 10 Pro?
2) Can we use an external serial breakout (8 port) that is accessed through a USB port?
The one we're interested in is: StarTech.com 8 Port USB to Serial RS232 Adapter - Wall Mount - Din
Rail - COM Port Retention - FTDI USB to DB9 RS232 Hub (ICUSB2328I), Black, available through Amazon.

You should be able to dripfeed more than once machine. How many machines would depend on things such as performance of the computer, baud rates of the RS232 ports and complexity of the CNC programs - ie how much data is being thrown at the CNC. Stop/Start Buffering etc.

8 Port RS232 should be fine but we can't recommend any specific brand
