By: duaneq | Posted on: May 30 2007 at 09:01:49 PM | We downloaded the trial version of EasyDNCxp and we got the cnc control to send programs out but we get a read/write error and I/O error when we try to send programs back into the control. We are going through rs232 cable into a usb converter into a laptop. The settings are 4800,7,1,none, xon xoff.

When you send the file does the error happen instantly or does it look as though the control is taking the data for a while before the error happens. If the change to the block delay made any difference does it make the control error happen later or does it happen as soon as you click send on the computer ?
By: duaneq | Posted on: Jun 1 2007 at 12:34:09 PM | The error is instantly. We are thinking it might be the pin out isnt correct. We are going from 25 to 9 pin and with an rs232 tester not all the lights are green. we made a new cable to make sure, off of the standard rs232 pin out you have in your online manual and still can`t get programs into the control.
By: Support | Posted on: Jun 1 2007 at 05:57:00 PM | If the error happens instantly then I`d say that the cable is correct because data is getting through to the machine. But the machine doesn`t like what it`s getting.
Could indicate an error in the data format.
The program you`re trying to send IN to the machine. Does it look the same as data that comes OUT of the machine ? For example, when data comes out of the machine, the start of the program might have a % symbol followed by the program name/number. The data you`re sending in to the machine would usually need to follow the same layout.
In easyDnc`s setup is a parameter for `End of Block (or Block End) This has options such as CRLF or FAST (or NONE) try changing that. If it`s set to CRLF then change it to Fast (or NONE) or one of the other settings.
By: duaneq | Posted on: Jun 4 2007 at 12:29:21 PM | The data coming out is the same as our old programs that we are trying to put back in. I tried changing the stop bit and it still has the read/write error.
By: Support | Posted on: Jun 4 2007 at 07:08:09 PM | Did you try the different Block End settings ?
Also try changing the Mode in easyDnc setup. Default, I believe, is `Standard`. try changing it to `None`.
Have you ever (successfully) used any other software with this machine, maybe an old Dos program ? If you have, would you email me at:- support2@easydnc.com

If that doesn't fix the problem then it is either an error in the program format - Maybe some special start or end character that you need to add to the start/end of the file.
Or it may be a buffer overrun - search the forum for FIFO

By: Mick354, | Posted on: Oct 4 2010 at 10:37:21 PM | Hi
to send a file back to the cnc you must edit the prog, input a $ at the very start of the File and also input a % At the end of the file. The file will load to The cnc index with no probs.
