Topic: Mac OS solutions using wireless, USB, or FireWire?
|
By: littlenemo | Posted on: Dec 15 2009 at 04:43:08 PM | I'm still trying to wrap my head around all this, but it would be fantastic if someone could point the way to (or provide) a tutorial on how to get DNC/CNC working with a Mac, preferably wirelessly, but at least using USB or Firewire. Many thanks in advance for any help or advice.

There's a Mac specific trial version of easyDnc at www.dnc-x.com and when you connect that usb adapter and install the correct drivers you'll see the serial ports as 'usbserial', usbserial2, usbserial3 etc etc
If you don't see a device called usbserial then you didn't install the drivers successfully.
As for wireless - I guess the same goes for windows - if you have ethernet connected RS232 ports AND you have the correct drivers installed then these ought to be available in easyDnc. In the Windows version they'd appear as standard com ports - on Mac they'd appear with some other name.
I use parallels desktop on My Macbook and run the windows version of easyDnc - more reliable.
