Can anyone help. When i am running my Amada CNC machine using the DNC4 software, if i need to stop the cnc machine and reset the axis back to zero and start the program again i am getting a runtime error 1003- `Error initialising port extended code ExtErr<7>`. The DNC software closed down and then i have to reset the peramiters. Apart from that the software seems very useful thanks. Any ideas??????

ExtErr<7> is an "invalid port" - for some reason windows no longer recognises the port hardware.
I`m guessing that when you stop the machine there`s still data in the computer/port transmit buffers and when easyDnc tries to dump that data it`s causing a problem in the port`s device driver.
Is this a USB or other `add on` RS232 port ?

I am using a USB connection from the laptop converting to a RS232 port on the CNC. If i pause the drip feed on the laptop and wait for the machine to stop and then cancel the program on the laptop it seems ok (as you say this has dumped the info.) But i am punching steel sheets and if i need to stop the CNC machine straight away, i cant wait for the machine to stop by stopping the drip feed at the laptop as this could cause damage to the machine if the metal sheet has wrapped up!!! Is there any way around this??
Thanks

You`re the first person to mention this but the way you describe it does make sense. In my mind I can almost picture what`s going on in the USB driver.
We should be able to reproduce this problem here and have a fix released.
Problem is it`ll probably take a day or two.
Are you able to work with what you have for a couple of days till we get a closer look at this ?

Andy - Would you send me an email so that I have your email address - I`d like to send a different version of the software for you to try.
