Topic: Swedish (Nordic) characters åäö or ÅÄÖ
|
By: Guest | Posted on: Feb 4 2009 at 12:11:39 PM | Help!
can not use the Swedish (Nordic) characters åäö or ÅÄÖ, what do I do?
characters used in comments and alarm lists.
would need a "transparant mode" (A=A.....Ö=Ö)
Otherwise easyDnc works excellent.

But . . .
Those characters are not part of the standard ISO/ASCII 7 bit characters set so your CNC might not understand them especially when communicating with 7bits.
Does your CNC even allow such characters in the data stream ? What CNC is it ? Are you communicating with 7bits (EvenParity) or 8bits (NoParity) | |

You might be right that it is not "standard characters" but it is standard ascii code (hex 5B-5D & 7B-7D).
if you look at http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASCII#Svensk_variant_av_kodtabell
(you have to you have to see the svedish version) then you understand my problem.
We use the characters in the Siemens Sinumerik 810D and 840D but also in other CNC machines.
I communicating with 7E1.
The characters used in the alarm texts and commentaries, see example.

2. Does your CNC have nordic characters on the keyboard allowing those characters to be entered in to the CNC manually ?
If your CNC is not specifically designed to display nordic characters then during data transfer the CNC would simply ignore the nordic characters and replace them with the [ ] symbols shown below - is that what`s happening ?
5B = [
5C =
5D = ] | |
By: Guest | Posted on: Feb 5 2009 at 02:57:15 PM | First of all, Sorry!! forget about hex codes from the past, I used a Hex-editor to find the right codes.
å=E5 ä=E4 ö=F6 Å=C5 Ä=C4 Ö=D6 (yes, I must use 8bit)
1. Yes, you can see the correct character when you do port scan, but Not when you receive the program with correct settings (9600 8N1)(easyDnc filtering the nordic characters when its receive).
2. Yes , I use easyDnc for backup only.
3. Sending is no problem , WYSIWYG

By: Support | Posted on: Feb 5 2009 at 06:40:53 PM | So nordic characters are displayed during PortScan but not during normal receive ?
Now I see the problem.
Give me a day or two and we`ll release an update.
Can we send an update direct to you so you can test that it meets your requirements ? If so please email me
