Topic:   Using boss 4 control

By: Jason.Posted on: Jan 9 2010 at 07:47:22 PM
I have a Bridgeport CNC with Boss 4 control. Firstly when I try to do tool length off sets as it says in the manual nothing happens.i.e. the T LED does not light up when I try to select it. Can anyont give me advice on wehther there is something wrong with the control.

I have downloaded easy DNC 4.7 (Trial Version) and have tried to load a programme on to the machine but with no success. I am not sure weather things like parity are set correctly. Easy DNC automatically scans for setting from the CNC when a programme is sent from it to the computer. However I am not certain how to do this. If anyone could give me information on the setting and how to do things on this control I would be very grateful.
Many Regards.
Jason.

The website at

DNC Setup for Boss CNC

doesn't show much for Boss suggesting that it should be quite easy to setup. Do you have the cable correctly wired ?

The cable I have came with the machine. The company that I bought the machine from used EZ-CAM that runs in MS Dos 6.22. I was given this software on a floppy disk and tried loading it in modern versions of Dos and Dos 6.0 but just keeps coming up with improper version of command.com. From what I was told the machine worked fine with this software. Do I need to wire the cable differently for the easy dnc software or is the cable specific for the CNC rather than the software.

Sorry just one other thing. The cable is wired with a 9 pin plug at the PC and there is a 9 pin at the CNC. However there are only three pins ctually wired at the CNC end

You will not need a special cable for easyDnc - if the cable worked with dos then it should also work with easyDnc.
