CNC / DNC Settings Acramatic 850 (SX)

The Acramatic 850 (SX) controller is a legacy system requiring precise serial port configuration to ensure reliable data transfer between the PC and the CNC machine. Standard communication requires 2400 baud, 8 data bits, and no parity. As this control architecture does not support drip-feeding (direct streaming), programs must be loaded entirely into the machine's internal memory buffer. If transmission fails, verify that the baud rate matches exactly on both the PC software and the machine control. Common pitfalls include handshaking mismatches; ensure that your cabling matches the machine's specific flow control mode—either XON/XOFF (software) or RTS/CTS (hardware). If you experience parity or framing errors, confirm that stop bit settings are consistent across both devices to prevent data corruption during serial transmission.

Parameter Value Comments
Baud Rate 2400 Standard setting
Parity N None
Databits 8 Standard
Stop Bits 1 Standard
Drip Feed? We do not believe that drip feed is possible with this control

Cable Connection and Flow Control

Cable Diagram 1

The cable illustrated above is the most commonly used variant and supports XON/XOFF flow control (DC1/DC3). If your CNC machine is configured for RTS/CTS (hardware) flow control, please refer to the alternative connection diagram below, which is designed to support both methods of flow control in most applications.
